It’s good to have routine.
After a somewhat disordered week, Tracy and I are realizing the beauty in routine. It was a good week, but it was outside our normal schedule. We had access to a vehicle which meant that we were able to go into town more often and make our own schedule. The truth is that having this new “freedom”- not depending on rides or taking our usual bike route into town- left us feeling a bit weary and disorganized.
The last half of the week we came back to the cabin and managed to spend a good few days back in the groove of our day-to-day routine. We’ve been able to spend time together, enjoy our meals, and talk to each other. I’ve finally been able to pull out the leather and Tracy has spent a couple afternoons playing with some painting materials.
We had been missing our work and routine; the two seem to go hand-in-hand. One of the things that makes work so enjoyable is it’s predictability (for me, at least). We are creatures of habit. and that habit can make for some of our best memories.
We’re looking forward to another week of work, habit, and our beloved routine.
